Associate Professor Omar Farouque is an interventional cardiologist at Warringal Private Hospital and Austin Health.
Omar graduated in medicine with honours at the University of Adelaide in 1993 and went on to specialise in cardiology and obtain a PhD in cardiovascular medicine at Monash University in 2002. He trained in interventional cardiology at Stanford University, California, before returning to practice in Melbourne in 2005.
His clinical interests include coronary angioplasty, stenting and coronary physiology. Omar holds the position of Director of Cardiology at Austin Health and is an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) and currently the Chair of the Victorian Division of the CSANZ.
