Dr Steven Lontos graduated from Melbourne University in 1995 and commenced medical training at the Austin Hospital. He completed gastroenterology training and undertook an MD in hepatology in 2004 having been awarded GESA scholarship. He is currently working as a gastroenterologist/hepatologist in both private and public practice. Dr Lontos is active in the training of registrars clinically and have run the weekly journal club over the last 5 years. He regularly attends overseas and local conferences to keep abreast of cutting edge advances.
He provides services in all areas of gastroenterology/hepatology including consultation, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic mucosal resection and Pillcam.
Dr Lontos's main area of interest include bowel cancer screening, the maintenance of quality indicators in colonoscopy, reflux disease and Barrett's oesophagus, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, food intolerances and liver disorders (hepatitis B, C, investigation of abnormal LFTs and fatty liver disease).
