Dr Ashish Srinivasan is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with a clinical focus in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colonoscopy and bowel disorders. Following completion of advanced gastroenterology training across several prominent Melbourne hospitals, Dr Srinivasan was awarded a prestigious clinical and research fellowship in the United Kingdom at Oxford University Hospital (Oxford, UK), where he furthered his training in IBD and colonoscopy. He subsequently trained in intestinal ultrasound (IUS) in Germany at University Hospital Erlargen, prior to establishing the IUS service at Austin Health which he now leads. Dr Srinivasan also provides private IUS services through Melbourne Bowel Ultrasound.
Dr Srinivasan maintains a keen interest in the latest medical therapies. His PhD, undertaken through Monash University, focused on optimising the use of biologic therapies to improve patient outcomes in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He also remains active in clinical teaching and research supervision through his appointment as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Srinivasan is a skilled endoscopist (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, PillCam) with access to regular private endoscopy lists at Warringal Private Hospital and the Victorian Day Procedure Centre and public endoscopy lists at Austin Health and Eastern Health. Dr Srinivasan welcomes referrals from all aspects of gastroenterology, including bowel ultrasound, and is happy to be contacted directly by GPs and specialists to provide advice, discuss patients, and/or accommodate urgent referrals.
