Dr Furtado is a General Surgeon with a clinical focus in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and transplant surgery. He graduated with first-class honours from the University of New South Wales in 2007, earning prizes in Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
Dr Furtado began his medical career at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, NSW, where he completed his prevocational and general surgical training. During this time, he also pursued research, earning a Master's in Philosophy with a focus on treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma. His dedication to advancing surgical techniques led him to specialise in HPB and liver transplantation through fellowships at renowned institutions.
Dr. Furtado's dedication to patient care is unparalleled. He goes above and beyond to ensure his patients are well-informed about their conditions and treatment options, emphasising clear communication and compassionate care. This commitment extends beyond his professional life, as he also enjoys spending quality time with his family, rowing on the Yarra River, and currently is learning to speak French.
