Dr Andrew Weickhardt is a Melbourne trained Medical Oncologist with a clinical interest in genito-urinary cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and general oncology now working at Warringal Private.

He completed his medical degree in 2002 at the University of Melbourne, excelling academically as the top student in his year.

He subsequently completed his medical oncology training at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Austin Hospital, receiving his fellowship in 2009. He undertook a higher laboratory based research degree at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research investigating resistance mechanisms to new targeted agents in oncology before spending two years in Denver, Colorado, USA.

In Colorado he worked clinically in early phase drug development in one of the world’s largest phase I oncology programs, and has published widely on mechanisms of drug resistance as well as side effect management of new and established oncology drugs.

He has returned to work at Warringal Private and the Austin Hospital as a Medical Oncologist, focused on delivering effective treatment to patients, alongside compassionate care.
